Everything You Need to Know Before Booking a Newborn Photoshoot Near London

The weeks before a baby arrives are full. There is so much to think about, so much to prepare, and somewhere in the middle of all of it, you know you want photographs of those first days. You just are not quite sure where to start.
I hear this from almost every family who reaches out to me. So I wanted to write something that answers the questions I get most, honestly, and in one place, so that by the time you get in touch, you already feel confident about what to expect.
The most important thing I can tell you is to book early. Ideally, reach out during your second trimester. Newborn sessions are best within the first two weeks of life, when babies are at their most settled and sleepy, and popular dates fill up quickly. Having everything confirmed before your baby arrives means one less thing to organise in those hazy first days at home.
If your baby has already arrived and you have not booked yet, please still get in touch. It is never too late, and I will always do my best to find a date that works.
My studio is based in Banstead, Surrey, a private, natural light space designed specifically with newborns and their families in mind. It is warm, calm, and quiet from the moment you walk in. Families travel to me from across Surrey, South London, and beyond, from Epsom, Reigate, Cheam, Coulsdon, Croydon, Kent, and London, and I would love to welcome you too.
The studio stays warm throughout every session to keep your baby comfortable and settled. There is a cosy seating area where you can relax, have a warm drink, and simply be present while I work. It is designed to feel like somewhere you can exhale, not somewhere you need to perform.
This is the question I am asked most, and the answer is simpler than most people expect. I have a beautifully curated wardrobe available for mothers to wear, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to stress about before the session. The pieces I have chosen are elegant, minimal, and designed to photograph beautifully. Most mothers combine one or two wardrobe pieces with something of their own for a look that feels genuinely personal.
For your baby, I have handmade organic cotton outfits and soft blankets that complement my natural, timeless style perfectly. Everything is here waiting for you. You simply need to bring yourself and your baby.
Newborn sessions at my studio typically last between two and three hours. That might sound like a long time, but it rarely feels it. I follow your baby’s natural rhythm entirely. If they need a feed, we pause. If they need settling, we take the time. There is no clock running and no pressure to rush through anything.
This unhurried pace is what makes the images look the way they do. When a baby is genuinely settled and a parent is genuinely relaxed, everything in the photograph shows it.
About a week after your session, I will invite you back to the studio for your viewing and ordering appointment. This is where you will see your images properly for the first time, together, in person, in the space where they were made. We will go through them slowly and I will guide you through every product option, from fine art prints and framed artwork to handcrafted heirloom albums.
I do not consider the session complete until your images are somewhere you will actually see them every day. Digital files are delivered within two to three weeks. Physical prints, framed artwork, and albums are ready within six weeks. Every product is archival quality and built to last.
Newborn sessions can feel like a big decision, especially when you are already navigating so much. My goal from the very first message is to make every part of this feel easy. I will guide you through everything, what to expect, how to prepare, what your baby will need on the day. By the time you arrive at the studio, there will be nothing left to wonder about.
If you are expecting and based in London, Surrey, or the surrounding areas, I would be honoured to hear from you. Get in touch and we can begin planning your session together.
Yes. My studio is based in Banstead, Surrey, which is well connected to South London and easily reachable from across the city. Families travel to me regularly from Croydon, Coulsdon, Cheam, and further into London for their newborn sessions. The journey is straightforward, and arriving at a calm, private studio rather than a busy city location is something most families tell me they really appreciated on the day.
If you have not already booked during pregnancy, get in touch as soon as your baby arrives. Newborn sessions are ideally held within the first two weeks of life, so the sooner we connect the better. I will do everything I can to find a date that works around this window. If your baby is a little older, please still reach out. I will always be honest with you about what is possible and what will work best for your images.
This is completely normal and completely expected. Every newborn session I offer is baby-led, which means we move at whatever pace your baby needs on the day. Feeding breaks, settling time, nappy changes, all of it is built into how I work. There is no rushing and no pressure. In my experience, the families who arrive knowing this tend to relax much more quickly, and that always shows in the final images.
