Everything You Need to Know Before Booking a Newborn Photoshoot Near London
The weeks before a baby arrives are full. There is so much to think about, so much to prepare, and somewhere in the middle of all of it, you know
Pregnancy is one of those seasons that exists in its own quiet time. There is anticipation in it, tenderness, and a
kind of wonder that is difficult to put into words. It changes something in the
way you move through the world, the way you notice things, the way time feels.
And then, almost before you have had a chance to fully inhabit it, it passes.
This is why maternity photography matters to me. Not to document a bump, but to hold onto the feeling of this particular chapter – the one that comes just before everything changes.
My studio in Banstead is designed to feel calm from the moment you arrive. It is a private, light-filled space, minimal and considered, where the softness of
natural light does the work. There is no harsh brightness here, no clinical
feel. Just warmth, quiet, and room to breathe.
When you come in for your maternity session, there is no rushing. We move at
whatever pace feels right for you. Some mothers arrive full of nervous energy
and find themselves relaxing within minutes. Others come in already at ease,
ready to sink into the experience. Either is completely welcome.
I have a beautifully curated wardrobe available for you to wear, so there is no
pressure to buy anything special or spend hours worrying about what to bring.
The pieces I have chosen photograph elegantly and are designed to flatter a
range of body shapes. Most clients combine one or two wardrobe pieces with
something of their own for a look that feels genuinely personal.
The ideal time for a maternity session is between 29 and 36 weeks. At this stage, your bump has a beautiful roundness to it and you are still comfortable enough to move freely and enjoy the experience fully. I recommend booking during your second trimester to secure your preferred date, as I accept a limited number of sessions each month so that every experience receives the care it deserves.
Families visit my Banstead studio from across Surrey and South London – from Epsom, Reigate, Cheam, Coulsdon, Croydon, Kent, and London – and I would love to welcome you too.
About a week after your session, I will invite you back to the studio for your
viewing and ordering appointment. This is where you will see your images
properly for the first time – together, in person, in a space designed to let
them breathe. We will go through them slowly and thoughtfully, and I will help
you choose the pieces that feel most true to this season.
The products I offer – fine art prints, framed fine art prints, and handcrafted
heirloom albums – are archival quality and built to last. These are not images
to be stored in a folder. They are portraits for your walls, for your home, for
your child to see one day when they are old enough to understand what they are
looking at.
I recommend getting in touch during your second trimester. The session itself
takes place between 29 and 36 weeks, when your bump is beautifully round and
you are still feeling comfortable. I accept a limited number of bookings each month, so the earlier you reach out, the better.
